The Center Impact Report

Since 1985, the CWC has been serving women in the Cabarrus and South Rowan and Northern Mecklenburg counties by specializing in pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, STI testing and pregnancy options and referrals.

Mission

To positively impact at risk pregnant women in the Cabarrus/North Mecklenburg regions through support, education and medical services, helping them to make life-affirming decisions to honor Jesus Christ.

History

Founded in 1985, Cabarrus Women’s Center was originally located near the hospital in Concord, NC, and then was moved into the downtown Concord area.

In July 2006, recognizing the need for additional space to accommodate both staff and patient case load, the center purchased the Bible Presbyterian property on Winecoff Avenue, NW. As of September 2020, this continues to be the primary location serving Cabarrus County and the surrounding area.

In August 2012, CWC added medical ultrasound (one day per week) to the list of free services offered to our clients. It is with thanks to the faithful support of our donors that we were able to offer a new service to become the first step as a medical facility. Those appointments booked up quickly, and we soon felt the need to expand our medical services.

In October 2013, through research of local abortion statistics, the Cabarrus Women’s Center Board recognized that our center was not successfully and effectively reaching the majority of pregnant women in crisis. Because of our findings, we felt it necessary to go through a rebranding- which changed the way that we market our patients, how we interact with them, and the need for additional medical services. We then began to proudly offer free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, free STI testing and treatment, as well as Abortion Pill Reversal services (APR) to each patient in need. These services are now available every day and hour that our doors are open to meet the specific needs of each of the women we serve. During this time, we also changed our name from Crisis Pregnancy Center to Cabarrus Women’s Center in an effort to assure our clients that although our services are free, they are receiving professional medical services. To accommodate the increased volume of patients, we also expanded our office hours and launched a new client website to assist in relaying our services and scheduling new appointments.

In 2018, we began our plan to launch a second center- a satellite office in the University area of Charlotte. During our research, it was found that there was not a pregnancy center specifically targeting the Charlotte Metro region. The zip codes in and around the UNC Charlotte campus contained the highest abortion concentrations in the entire state of North Carolina and we felt called to target those areas.

In June of 2019, we launched the opening of UCity Women’s Center – located adjacent from one of UNC Charlotte’s main campus entrances. Once the UCity location was up and running, we also launched a Google Ad Campaign so that women who were looking for abortion information in our area would find our site quickly and have the ability to schedule an appointment online. We are now seeing more patients than ever before!

From 1985-2013, Cabarrus Women’s Center would have on average 20 babies saved from abortion. Since going medical with all of our added services, and with the addition of our new center and Google Ads, we are now averaging 333 babies saved per year!
